What is coaching used for?
To develop leadership potential and support
succession planning: Emerging leaders are the leaders
of tomorrow. As the baby boom generation approaches retirement, it is crucial
that the next generation of leaders have the skills, knowledge and experience
to guide their organizations into the future. Coaching supports leadership
skill development in preparation for future job responsibilities.
To build stronger teams: Team coaching moves groups toward
optimum creativity and productivity. With team coaching, a team becomes more
aware of its own processes and becomes self-managing. Team coaching improves
team cooperation and decision making; builds team skill in managing and moving
beyond conflict; maximizes the value of diversity of team members; increases
productivity; and achieves desired results.
To aid integration of formal learning: Translating
new knowledge into a skill that becomes part of our everyday way of being takes
practice and support. One-on-one coaching sessions immediately following the
training enhance the skill integration process. By providing guidance, feedback
and ongoing encouragement, coaching ensures that the dollars spent on training
have lasting value.
To stretch and risk, and move to the next level of performance: Clients
push themselves outside of their comfort zone and achieve excellence with the
support of a coach.
To build relationships: Coaching helps forge the relationships
that are the basis for “synergy” and extraordinary results.
To develop emotional intelligence: Through self-awareness and
self-discipline, coaching cultivates the capability to handle situations with
compassion and competence.
To receive feedback: Coaching feedback includes active
listening, formal assessment tools, and feedback about performance, behavior,
style, and possible blind spots.
To develop work-life balance: Being a CEO,
president, manager, or line worker is only one aspect of a full life of
friends, family and interests. Coaching supports balance and harmony in all of
these areas.
To be more effective in communication: The gift of language is
a very powerful tool. Coaching supports contextual listening and speaking
directly to achieve desired results.
To increase personal power: Coaching helps develop deep, inner
resources and build resiliency.
To tap into passion: Passion is the expression of a
unique, powerful gift. Coaching helps define, and then create, a legacy from
the passion within.
To plan strategically: Coaching helps create and implement
personal and corporate visions essential for progress and outstanding results.
Coaching helps clarify where one wants to go and how one intends to get there.
